Day Father is an exploration of the twisted, labyrinthine ways in which an individual views the world around his or herself. Anna is a young girl obsessed with Alice Through the Looking Glass, living with Mother and Father in a large city. It was Mother’s artistic inclination that pulled the family away from Father’s ideal farm country setting. Now, as the years pass, the city is grinding the married couple down to the nubs. That is, until Mother meets Jason. She and the PhD student begin an affair unlike any other, in which Jason begins to act as a second father to Anna.
